Composites UK, the trade association for the UK composites industry, has launched the preliminary agendas for its autumn programme of events.
Working with the National Composites Centre, the association has confirmed two further SME Roadshows. The first of these, which is in Scotland on 5th September, is hosted by Scott and Fyfe at its facility near Dundee. The second, on 19th September in Manchester, covers the North West regions and is supported by the National Composites Certification and Evaluation Facility (NCCEF). Both of these events will bring together the local supply chain for fibre-reinforced polymers composites (FRPs). They highlight business/funding support opportunities as well as product/project case studies from companies in the region.
The programme for the fourth Thermoplastic Composites conference, organized in collaboration with the British Plastics Federation (BPF) has been released. Held on the 5th October at BPF’s offices in London, this year’s topic is ‘Growing the UK Affordable Composites Market’ as this is one of the immediate areas for composites development in which the UK can play a significant part. Speakers include Nissan, Nifco, Shape Machining, Tods Aerospace, TenCate Advanced Composites and more.
The next sector showcase event covers ‘Composites in Marine Applications’ and will focus on four areas – What boat builders need from the composites industry; Standards and testing; Cross sector working – learning from others, and; Advanced design and manufacturing. Speakers at the showcase, which takes place on 11th October at Southampton Football Club, include R-Tech Materials, Lloyds Register, University of Southampton, Frewer Engineering, TWI and IDTechEx with marine clients to be confirmed. The British Marine Federation and the Motorsport Industry Association are supporting the showcase with their own member case study sessions included in the programme. The showcase events are some of Composites UK’s most popular. The table-top exhibition space here has almost sold out, with half of the delegate places already taken.
Finally, plans for the 2017 Composites UK Industry Awards Dinner are in full swing. With the deadline for award entries coming to a close on 31st July, seats are now filling up for this event on 1st November in Birmingham (to coincide with the Advanced Engineering Show). Over 100 people have already confirmed their place to celebrate the very best of the composites supply chain in the UK.
